COSMOS: Experimental Embroidery and Embellishment

This creative embroidery workshop led by artists Jessica Grady and Elnaz Yazdani will introduce you to imaginative and experimental techniques to try with mixed media textiles.

Taking inspiration from our recent Cosmos exhibition, this workshop will explore how everyday materials can be transformed into exciting embroidery and embellishment ideas. Both artists use mixed media materials and hand stitch in contemporary and tactile ways, opening your eyes to the possibilities of this versatile medium.

The day will begin with an introduction to both artists and their practice, followed by demonstrations of techniques used in their works. You will create samples with both hand stitch and embellishment concepts, with lots of personalised support from Elnaz and Jessica. After a lunch break, you will begin a more developed textile piece, taking your favourite techniques and materials from the morning session.

This workshop includes all materials and is suitable for all abilities, including complete beginners in embroidery techniques.
