Introduction to Modern Quilting

With your tutor, you will work through every step needed to make a quilt, starting with choosing fabric and patterns, to finally making your own binding. You'll be using these techniques to make a 30x30cm mini quilt in your choice of fabrics and colours to take home with you and proudly display as a table centrepiece.

The workshop will cover the following:

● Choosing fabrics and complimentary colours
● Researching traditional patterns
● Cutting fabric accurately
● Piecing the top quilt pieces
● Pressing open seams
● Sandwiching your quilt top and backing securely
● Quilting by machine and hand
● Making binding
● Finishing and embellishing.

With all these skills you'll then be equipped to make any kind of quilt at home, from cushions and jackets to bed throws.
